It's perfectly ok not to like opera or ballet; it's the patronising "All respect to…" CYA little pat on the head afterwards that makes me want to 🤮.

今日は指揮者キリル・コンドラシンの命日。1981年没、享年67。アムステルダムで、テンシュテットの代役で北ドイツ放送交響楽団のマーラーを振ったその晩に心臓発作に見舞われての急死。ソヴィエト亡命組ということもあって、当時は暗殺説まで流れた。

亡命後の活躍ぶりは目覚ましかっただけに残念だった。彼のショスタコーヴィチ交響曲全集は演奏はともかく録音の質が今ひとつなので、出来たら再録を果たして欲しかった。
