My favourite niche factoid (today, at least) about Sibelius (music software, not composer) is that you can create a notehead style that is both headless and stemless. Which leaves… nothing*.

And I make use of this a lot for some composers, mostly where aleatoric things are happening, to fill bars where something unnotated is happening, which avoids multirests appearing in the part.

* okay, not nothing in all cases: if you put an accidental on it, that will show, as well as any articulations.

Chopin ließ sich zu „Raindrop“ von einem Tagtraum inspirieren, den er am Klavier in einem Kloster auf Mallorca hatte. Laut George Sand, die den Komponisten aus seinen Träumereien riss, als sie während eines Gewitters ins Kloster zurückkehrte, sah sich der Komponist in einem See ertrinken, während schwere Wassertropfen in regelmäßigem Rhythmus auf seine Brust fielen.“

今日はヴォルフガング・サヴァリッシュの命日。2013年没、享年89。もっとも、2006年に心臓病の悪化でコンサートをキャンセルして以降指揮台に登っていない。

N響との関係は絶大で一時代を築いた存在ではあったと思う。今聴き返すと今のN響はその時代よりもう一段レベルアップ出来たと感じるのだけれど、次の時代に繋がる下地を作った人という評価になるのかな。
