If you need some joy in your day, this is my gift to you. John Batiste is a gem of a human being. He is also massively talented.

In this interview from 2023 with Chris Wallace, John talks about the limitations genres put on music. And THEN he genre hops through part of a Beethoven piece on the fly.

It’s so good. And Chris’ face is priceless. He’s almost giddy.

Alt...John is a good-looking young Black man with with robustly-styled dreadlocks. He is wearing a tan suit coat, partially open over a low-cut white t-shirt. He’s sitting at a piano in what appears to be a small studio setting. Chris is a middle-aged white man with simple glasses. He’s wearing a suit with a bright-red pocket square over a solid-blue dress shirt and a striped tie.

Dieskau's recording is masterful, but I prefer a high voice for this song; the best recording I know of was a live broadcast from the 2009 Schubertiade with Christiane Karg and Wolfram Rieger, but that is, alas, not on YouTube. The Anne Sofie von Otter DGG track is pretty good, but I like this live Juilliard students' performance (Angela Vallone, soprano and Chris Reynolds, piano) from 2016 as well:
