向こう数日際立ったクラシックの音楽家の誕生日や命日がないのよねぇ。で、ちょっと探してたらこれが。

メルカダンテ、クラリネットやフルートのための協奏曲をいくつか書いていて、管楽器のソリストにとっては貴重なレパートリーにはなっているんだけど、そういうのを積極的に掘り起こしてないとまずお目に掛かることがない人なんだよなぁ。時期的にはベートーヴェンよりちょっと後、ロマン派の時期に生きた人ってことになるけど、演奏されている作品はむしろ古典派の作風という印象だなぁ。

#Mozart verbinde ich ja immer mit einer gewissen Leichtigkeit. Sein #Requiem enthält nach meinem Gefühl eine grosse Dosis Schmerz, wobei unklar ist, ob das ausschliesslich Mozart zu verdanken ist, der ja nur etwa zwei Drittel des Werkes schrieb, bevor andere es zu Ende brachten.

今日はフランク・マルタンの誕生日。1890年、ジュネーヴの生まれ。

彼の主だった作品が作曲されるのは1930年代以降。1890年生まれというのはちょっと意外な印象。ただ、幼少期から作曲は試みていたという。

父親はプロテスタントの牧師。マルタン自身少年期にバッハの「マタイ受難曲」を聴いて感銘を受けている。器楽曲が取り上げられることが多いものの、作品目録には宗教曲も数多く並んでいる。

今日はアントン・ヴェーベルンが誤射によって射殺された日。1945年、ザルツブルク近郊のミッタージルにて。享年61。

ペルトコスキ、指揮の折にかなり表情や身振りを大きく使うタイプなので、音楽もそれに釣られて激情タイプなのかと勘違いしてしまうが、実際はブラスセクションに対して抑制する様な指示を出すシーンも多く、パッションを如何に音として表現するかに集中している様に見えた。その点ではやはり今世紀のマーラー演奏を指向しているひとりということになりそう。

今回の来日公演にマーラーを持って来たのはペルトコスキの意向だったらしい。まぁ、先代のソヒエフも割とフランスものをこなしていたし、プロモーター側もそういうレパートリーで売りたいという申し入れはあったんだろうな。

もっとも、今回のコンサートを聴く限り、フランスのオケに無理にでもドイツ風の音を出させたいという感じではなく、と言って違和感のある音でもなく、彼らなりに十分な完成度のマーラーをこなしていたと思う。

昨日の #クラシック音楽館 、他の作業に手間取ってながら聞きしていた上に何時もより放送時間が長かったので途中でスイッチを切って寝てしまった。今日改めて録画を見返して。

トゥールーズ・キャピトル管、木管席にカメラが行った時に「あれ、バッソン？」最近はフランスのオケでもドイツ流のファゴットに切り替えている所が増えている中、敢えて今でもフランス伝統のバッソンを吹いているとは気付いてなかった。但しコントラファゴットはバッソンではなくコントラフォルテというもっとデカい音のする楽器を使っていた。そこは臨機応変なのねw。
