                    今日はマーラーの交響曲第8番が初演された日。1910年。自身が指揮しているが、翌年5月に敗血症で亡くなるので、死の8ヶ月前ということになる。

                    ミュンヘンで開催されていた音楽祭のメインイベントだった。アルフレット・ロラーの手掛けた初演コンサートを伝えるポスターも、出演者の多さを反映してかレタリングだけでデザインされている。 moma.org/collection/works/1852 実際、初演に出演した演奏者が1000人を超えたので、「千人の交響曲」と呼ばれることも多いが、最近は特に合唱団にそこまでの人数を入れなくなっているので、精々数百人程度で演奏される様になっている。それでも通常のコンサートホールの舞台ではなかなか出演者を全員乗せるのが難しい。

                    初演に使われた会場は現在は交通博物館になっている。maps.app.goo.gl/Bdy2uNAmJkuqYM 現在は鉄道や自動車の車両が多数置かれるほどの広さがあるのは、出演者の多さを考えれば理解できるが、冒頭で壮大に鳴るパイプオルガンを初演ではどうしたのだろう。他に大きなハルモニウムが入っているのは、あるいはこういう会場では仮設のオルガンしか使えないことを考慮したのかも知れない。
