I recently found this fine take on Beethoven's Choral Fantasy with Martha Argerich, Seiji Ozawa, and the Saito Kinen Orchestra: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cSfMH9Y5bi8. It's worth an ear. The poor piece often gets rushed and treated like filler. Argerich and Ozawa give it depth and intensity, and the performances from the vocal soloists and members of the orchestra are outstanding. Ozawa had to step out, but Argerich still tours and gives awesome concerts.

今日はカール・ニールセンの命日。1931年、コペンハーゲンの病院にて没、享年66。

フルート協奏曲とクラリネット協奏曲を書いたのが1926年と28年、他にオーボエ、ファゴット、ホルンのためにそれぞれ協奏曲を書く構想を持っていたが、結局亡くなるまでの数年の間に実現されることはなかった。亡くなる年の２月にオルガンのための「コンモツィオ」という作品を書いたのが最期になった。
