Today I painted the under colour for the murmuration of birds. The biggest of these birds is maybe 2 to 2.5 cm. After getting the green down, I went back over the sky with a second layer of blue.

I'm now 9 hours into this piece.

    This one is the next in my very slow digital re-drawing project of 2020 daily sketches done with alcohol markers.

    This one is of a honey bee on clover from a photograph I took about ten years ago.

      I'm home and I finished the bumble bee's body. Now to draw the clover.

        Bumble Bee - I drew the clover tonight. It was more complex than I was expecting.

        Bumble bee and some white clover with the start of the grass that it is growing from.

          I worked more on the bee. The background is very abstract, a jumble of colours.

          I spent an hour colouring in various polygons at the top of the drawing in shades of light yellow, green, and tan. Collectively they should invoke a sense of grass.

            I am slowly filling in the background of this bee drawing.

            Bumble bee on clover. Behind the clover is a bunch of Bermuda grass that's starting to turn yellow and brown as another California summer begins. About half of the background is now complete.
