I'm a little obsessed with the guitar community on YouTube. It's full of men, with hot takes, demoing equipment and talking about "gigging" (they don't gig, they just sit in front of their webcams)

But the reason I'm obsessed is that everyday they come out with some new must-have, or don't-buy. It's endless. Growing up, when you got a musical instrument, that was it. You now had one. So you played it.

Now it's a symptom of capitalism, relentless acquisition

I noticed the long grass in the school yard and got curious. When I learned it was Kentucky bluegrass (Poa pratensis, also known as smooth meadow-grass) I knew I needed to make a cyanotype. The blue of the cyanotype evokes the blue of the bluegrass. I have made two prints combining bluegrass sheet music (an excerpt of Bill Monroe’s Blue Grass Stomp) and the bluegrass itself.
