今日はネーメ・ヤルヴィの誕生日。1937年、エストニアのタリン生まれ。当時はソ連領。

彼が日本で知られる様になったのは、BISの一連のシベリウスの録音が国内に入ってきてからかな。その後BISやシャンドスレーベルの輸入CDが流通する様になって、知名度を上げていったと個人的には認識している。

今年でもう89歳か。今どうされているのかな。

Could become one of my new favorites. Amazing duets between fear (contra alto) and hope (tenor).Very interesting harmonies, the whole tone scale in the final Chorale is almost painful.

今日はクラウス・テンシュテットの誕生日。1926年、ドイツのメルゼブルク生まれ。

今年で生誕100年、ってことはブロムシュテットの１歳年上か。晩年病気がちだったからしょうがないところではあるけれど、ブロムシュテットがまだ指揮しているだけに、もうちょっと長命であればと思ってしまう。もっともそのブロムシュテットもこないだマーラー９番指揮中にダウンしたというし、あの年齢で指揮台にいただけでも大変なこと。

今でもテンシュテットのマーラーの録音は折に触れて引っ張り出す。

今日はカール・マリア・フォン・ウェーバーの命日。1826年、ロンドンにて客死。享年39。ロマン派に属すると考えられている作曲家だが、没年は古典派に属するとされることが多いベートーヴェンより１年早い。

死因は結核。病躯を抱えながら小ヴェント・ガーデン歌劇場からの委嘱に応えて「オベロン」を作曲し、初演の指揮のためにロンドンに渡った先で病状が悪化。そのまま死に至った。
