第一次大戦の頃はまだ子供だったことになる。後に兵役を3年経験するが、その頃には既に第一次大戦は終結していたのは彼にとって幸いだったと言える。

エドガー・ヴァレーズにも師事しているので、後の作風に影響する土壌が整う時期にパリに生まれ育ったということになるか。
