今日は伊福部昭の誕生日。1914年、釧路・幣舞生まれ。

小学校の頃に父親が音更村の村長になって移住して、そこでアイヌやロシア人の風俗に触れたことが伊福部の作風に多大な影響を与えたことは自他共に認めるところだったが、それ以前の話はあまり語られていないので、やはり伊福部の作風の構築に寄与したのは音更の方だったと言うべきか。

今日はフランツ・ヨーゼフ・ハイドンの命日。1809年、ウィーンにて没。享年77。

今日はベンジャミン・ブリテンの「戦争レクイエム」が初演された日。1962年、コヴェントリー大聖堂にて。https://maps.app.goo.gl/WWdvcLBL1CRdmd8N8 第二次大戦中にドイツ軍の空襲で破壊された大聖堂の再建に寄せて作曲されている。

ソプラノは当初ソ連のヴィシネフスカヤが予定されていたが、ソ連当局が出国を許可しなかったためにヘザー・ハーパーが代わりに歌っている。イギリス人のピーター・ピアーズのテノール、ドイツ人のディートリヒ・フィッシャー＝ディースカウのバリトンと、戦争の当事国からそれぞれ招かれる象徴的な意味合いがあった。当初はブリテン自身がオケを指揮する予定だったが、健康状態のために叶わず、メレディス・デイヴィスがバーミンガム市交響楽団を指揮し、ブリテン自身は器楽アンサンブルの指揮に廻っている。合唱はこの初演のために編成された合唱団。

なお、後にブリテン自身の指揮によってこの曲を録音した際にはヴィシネフスカヤの参加が実現している。
