Getting back into computers and #programming again after decades away from it (and still haunted by 1980s and 1990s memories, not to mention our swift 1999-2001 burnout) has caused me to revisit mentally a bunch of old gripes that I had in the early days of learning programming and finding out to my disgust how slapdash and shapeless a thing "computer science" turned out to be after having at least partial experience with trying to learn a real science.

I never did get the hang of "object oriented programming" for example but I think I realize in retrospect that's because I got my #OOP experience from bad languages.
