For today's drawing, I felt like drawing some dancing starfish. So I did.

Here's an in-progress shot.

I also finished a floral-network piece, on watercolor paper. It's really nice to have more time for drawing again.

I've shared these in posts for my supporters on Patreon and Ko-fi (all levels):

Hand drawn generative/procedural art in ink on an open page of my sketchbook. The abstract pattern looks a bit like two starfish dancing with joy.

I'm not quite ready to move on from the Stellation prompt, and I'm trying it again with a smaller center. That way, more the the pattern fits on the page.

This is what it looked like before it was fired. At this point, I’d let it dry completely (we call that bone dry) and then I painted it with dirt water (we call that terra sig.) I love this soft, pastel stage and I also love the color shifting alchemy that happens in a hot kiln. The yellow to dark purple is especially wild.

After this I bisque fire, then apply glaze, then fire again. I work in batches so I was making other pots while I made this.

A decorative unfired pottery vase with a spherical body and a narrow neck, featuring intricate geometric and leaf patterns in earthy tones of orange, yellow, and beige. It rests on a wooden surface, with other pottery and plants blurred in the background.

Going with this comforting floral pattern for today's drawing. I'm loving this ink! It looks like a dark brown when wet, but dries to a richly dark plum purple when it dries. And it plays so well with diluted inks and paper.

Here's an in-progress shot, with the ink bottle.

Hand drawn generative/procedural art in ink on an open page of my sketchbook. The abstract pattern is floral. I'm holding a small bottle of ink in front of the drawing.

Exploring patterns inspired by Ruth Asawa again, in today's drawing. I love how these inks play together. Sadly, I smudged the ink a bit after I finished the drawing. Oh well.

              Here's an in-progress shot.

Hand drawn generative/procedural art in ink on an open page of my sketchbook. The abstract pattern is difficult to describe, but wavy lines with nested circles is kinda close.

Time to carve a new block! This is a transverse-banded flower fly in progress. Because of its yellow and black stripes, tendency to hover (it’s a hover fly after all) and love of flowers, it can be mistaken for a bee. But no, it’s a fly. The eyes are the real giveaway for this bee mimic, to my mind. While not a bee, it is an excellent pollinator and another friend to gardeners.

As described this is a lino block in progress of a transverse banded flower fly. It’s carved in green vinyl and its shape is cut out. It lies on a cutting mat with half inch grid and ink stains.
