@ClayDowling me too. My main takeaways from the original performance of this piece (https://schmonz.com/2007/12/17/schlair-student-piece-1) were

1. I have enough skill with music (my love was never in question) to go ahead with a music major; no need for a last-minute switch
2. Composing is expensive enough (75 hours for this 3.5 minute piece) that it better be deliberate practice
3. I’ll need an old-school composition teacher (probably one with ear hair) and time to focus on it

In the meantime, the past year+ of piano-playing has expanded my lexicon and also my understanding of what’s physically reasonable to expect from a pianist. It’s not the training I most specifically need, but it’s moving the needle for sure.
