@ska oh, it’s not my first. It’s my first with a finally adult-attention-span brain, and after a bit of music theory, and actually worth finishing. It fermented under these conditions: https://schmonz.com/2007/11/11/advanced-composition

I wasn’t consciously aiming at Debussy or Chopin with it, but I played and loved a lot of Debussy in high school, and it’s probably impossible to write for the piano without taking from Chopin once one has heard any Chopin. I was consciously aiming at Medtner and Rachmaninov. Lately I’m also hearing hints of Brahms in it.
