Server upgrade to #NetBSD 8 complete. VPS host’s custom kernel removed pseudo-device npf, so I had to learn about /etc/modules.conf (and will set up later to boot my own in-filesystem kernel). Otherwise absolutely nothing else interesting. Perfect!
