A twist! Upstream #Python can, as we might expect for such a popular combination, build teeny updates on #Linux just fine. It’s #pkgsrc that, in aiming for identical builds on dozens of platforms for 20k+ applications, created the need for yesterday’s patch.

It’s a worthy aim.
