In my neverending quest for knowledge, I worked all day and night (14 hours overall) installing and testing phone lines in Clarke Tower with Tony and my big brother Pat, who works for NetCom Management Group at their Cleveland branch. Over the course of the day, I found myself using several tools of the trade, including a bright orange handset with alligator clips called a “butt set”. I got to work with John Rause, Pat's boss, who is a very nice guy I met several months back at a function I attended with Jason Dolan. I will be working with Dolan, Pat, John, and Tony some more over the next few weekends, when I will be helping install network interfaces and software in the computers of new CWRU students.
After our long day, John, Pat, Tony, and I chilled out on the porch. Liz had some of her coworkers over again. I really like when she does that, because they are all nice folks. Pat, Tony, and I went to snag some late-night eats from our preferred joint, the East Cleveland Taco Bell, but their drive-thru somehow closed at 1:40, just as we drove up to the microphone. The East Cleveland Taco Bell has sucked in one way or another the last four times we have tried to go there. I think it is about time to call 1-800-TACO-BELL and see what is up. We ended up going to Best Steak and Gyros, which is more expensive but also more filling, and damn tasty.
A long, tiring, full day. I slept well afterward.
