First “real” day of class: learned about pointers. For some reason, the professor made the concept seem more complex than it really is. Here is how I'd explain it: a pointer is a variable containing an address in memory. If you change the memory location referenced by the pointer, you change the value of the variable in that memory location. It is that simple. Why pointers are useful, I don't yet know. If I had to guess, I'd say the added level of indirection might be useful in creating interesting data structures. By the way, today's class was Introduction to Data Structures.

After class, I went to the Kelvin Smith Library and connected my laptop to CWRUnet from there. I won't be doing it again soon. Too many cables and boxes to carry around to connect to the fiber network jacks.

The Student Activities Fair went well for the Ultimate squad. We scooped up a hefty bunch of interest. My lefty flick was extraordinarily on, and I even had a decent lefty hammer. Just one of those days.

I ran into my roommate from freshman year, Gabe Wagner, at the fair. He is a charming guy and it's a shame we don't see each other more often. We are both pretty busy people.
