First day on the Atkins Diet. It feels strange to be shopping for diet food and having that food be roast beef, cheese, eggs, bacon, and the like. The catch is that, for two weeks, I can eat no carbohydrates whatsoever. The principle of the diet is to persuade your body to choose fat as its preferred source of energy, a condition called ketosis. Once you've entered ketosis, you can gradually add small amounts of carbohydrate (such as vegetables) to your diet. I'm looking forward to seeing how this diet works for me. Most of my friends think it's a crock, but they hope it's not. We shall see! Between the diet and playing Ultimate, I hope to get in shape pretty quickly.
Phi Kap Bash went well. Lots of volleyball, dancing, and girls. Fraternity rush is going terrifically as well; it looks as though we will have one of the larger rush classes in recent years, and they will all be top-notch guys. But we have another week before rush is officially over. Much work still to be done.
After the first week of classes, I have one homework assignment per class. Quite manageable. The presentation of material is rather humdrum, but I am finding the courses interesting nevertheless.
