Yesterday's rest did me some good, but I still feel flu coming on: sore and tender muscles without cause, the premonition of stuffiness in the nose. Spent the morning at the Children's Museum (not near any children!) fixing a veritable plethora of network problems.
Walked in the fresh air with my friend Rima to the CWRU trainer's office, where she had to drop off some info. Closed. Rima walked with me to the nearby National City bank, where I needed to obtain a money order to purchase some replacement NuBus Ethernet cards for my wacky network. Closed. Well, we got to walk a lot! Not feeling great though. Ate some fresh veggies for dinner. The Atkins diet has me on the good side of 210 pounds now. I am a believer. Too bad the flu is going around here, or I'd have been feeling 100% better for several weeks now.
My $170 ergonomic chair from Staples has been fantastic since I purchased it on Saturday. It's black leather, it reclines, it swivels, it adjusts height, and it's only $19.95 if you call now! Plus $150 shipping and handling.
My room, while still filled with lots of “stuff”, is starting to take shape. I evicted the previous tenant of my closet, which means it can actually be walked into now. I think the Great Contiguous L-Desk will be offset slightly further from the wall so as to allow the digital piano to go back there, the loft will be slud a foot or two further along the wall, and a bean bag chair will be placed at the foot of the loft for easy entry and exit and for a nice reading nook. Director's chairs will be implemented as well. Other plans are in store, but I would rather not report them until they are completed because they are relatively ambitious.
Finally, I have obtained some information on a) how to purchase system software and a terminal program for the Apple //e, and b) how to build a null modem cable to connect the Apple ][ and Sparc IPC (currently headless and without console). Some kind of serial switch would also be nice, so I can free up a serial port on my G3 (currently tied up as serial console for both a IIci and a Quadra), but mainly I want to get a console on the Sparc so I can keep an eye on it. The Apple ][ has great hack value.
