The due date on today's assignment has been pushed back to Friday because of some apparently unclear directions. After clarification, I found that I had understood them already, and was about to turn in my assignment anyway except that Prof. White said I should check with the head grader about my choice of compiler (gcc). The course recommends either CodeWarrior or Visual C++, neither of which I have or care to purchase when I have a perfectly good free compiler that runs on a better operating system.

I committed my assignment to CVS. Quick recap of CVS: a multiplatform networked revision control system for source code. I'm using it for my coursework for two primary reasons: it lets me easily try out my code in different environments (including my laptop while in class) without getting out of sync, and it lets me roll back to a working version if I later screw something up (which happens often). It is pretty nifty stuff.

I stopped at the Hillel on my way home and improvised on the Steinway grand. I don't do this nearly often enough. It was lots of fun, as always.
