Despite having woken up early and left early this morning, I still managed to be late for the Monday morning meeting. How? Because buses come whenever they feel like it, which sometimes is not soon enough. The rule is that if you arrive late for the meeting, you are not allowed to participate (or even enter the meeting room). Missing the weekly meetings bothers me because I like to hear what everyone is working on (and brief them on my current projects), and because I like to be around for any announcements that are made. So I was annoyed this morning for a little while. Next week I will try getting up even earlier.

I got right to work compiling rsaref, OpenSSL, MM, mod_ssl, mod_php, mod_auth_mysql, and Apache. Then I configured a section of a client's site to require SSL, using a test certificate signed by a fake Certificate Authority. It worked well enough, so we're going to get a certificate from a real CA and go live! Fun stuff.

Went to a meeting of the CWRU Linux User's Group. Today's discussion was “Basic Linux Security,” presented by Jose Nazario, a CWRU graduate student. Jose gave an excellent seminar and welcomed my OpenBSD-colored input. I will be giving seminars about Perl and CVS in the next months.
