Continuing the home.ooi.net project, I rewrote an old Perl program in PHP to fit it into the new site design (almost done!). The program defines an associative array of Unix command names (the keys) and their full paths and arguments (the values), then presents a menu of Unix commands to run. Output is displayed in a TEXTAREA of 80 columns and 25 rows — just like a Unix terminal window. I learned a lot of PHP while rewriting this program, and even learned a bit of Perl that would have improved the Perl code had I not been discarding that version!
I have not yet decided what I will be doing next semester. I'm not sure I want to continue at CWRU for the spring. OhioOnline has been most gracious in listening to my thoughts, offering sound advice, and allowing me time to think about this and other possibilities. I am grateful to work at an enlightened company.
