There is no hot water in the house. There is nobody else in the house. And I don't feel too enterprising right now. I never do when I feel significantly less than 100% healthy. So the lack of hot water will not be corrected forthwith.
No food on hand either. Praise be to Amanda, who drove out from Chardon to pick me up and bring me back to her place for dinner, which consisted of steak, eggs, and bacon. (I find that high-protein, high-fat foods maintain my health better than carbohydrate-heavy ones.) I probably wouldn't have bothered eating if not for her efforts. Much appreciated.
Got an email message from a kid at Highland Park High School who is attempting to get some Unix boxes up on the school's network. Man, that would have been great to have when I was there! He had some technical questions that I was happy to answer. It's a terrific learning opportunity for HPHS students interested in computing, especially since the last time a programming course was taught there was in the late 80's (!). I hope he gets things running.
I've never been able to visit HPHS since I graduated in 1997. I'm never about town at the right time. While nearly all the students I know are now gone, I still would love to catch up with the many excellent teachers I had, and to walk the halls of the place where I did so much growing up.
