David starts a new gig Monday. Congratulations, David, and may this one be a success for you. You've earned it.
Volleyball with Gabe and Mike vs. Darin and Zuck. Then, one-on-one vs. the Gaberino. Then a reconciliatory Simpsons-watching.
On my way to Kusch to check out Sarah's party, in no particular hurry, I grabbed a sandwich from the Boarding House deli and sat outside Thwing, watching the nighttime traffic on Euclid Avenue from eye level. To my immediate left, two Greek-style columns rose from the sidewalk, leading nowhere but to hold a sign saying “Thwing Center”. They're not attached to the building in any way, which is good because they don't look anything like the building. Whose idea of a joke was this?
Eventually I walked some more until I got to Kusch. It was pretty hoppin' for a dorm party, but packed way too tight for my taste. Christina drove Hank and me to Storrs. On the second floor, where JD and Spictacus and I used to jam, were a bunch of guys jamming! Guitars, amps, trumpets, bongo, etc. Lots of people sitting around and watching, also a familiar sight. These new guys were funky, and played a hilarious original tune. Once I had my fill, I located Kat and Erika on the fourth floor and caught up a bit. I still use the lovely hat Erika knitted for my birthday two years ago.
Finally, I went home, intending to sleep, but Gabe had other ideas, and I liked his better. It's something I'll have to try again sometime.
