Slept in a bit. Aargh.
We had some trouble getting Mike's old PC to run Unix. Red Hat didn't support his NE2000-compatible network card out of the box, but OpenBSD did. Admittedly, I looked in the kernel config file to see how to configure the card's base address and IRQ, but it Just Worked after that. I installed KDE in case ordinary non-Unix nerds need to use the machine.
I stayed late at the office and looked up some old friends from elementary school and camp on the Internet. A girl from Ravinia School showed up at UWM, involved in student government. A guy from Camp Young Judaea was one of the top high school soccer players in Michigan this year. Plenty of other names came up too. Having enjoyed a lovely childhood, I occasionally succumb to nostalgia.
The government has ordered Microsoft to be broken up. I think Microsoft should order the government to be broken up.
