Arrived at work when I like, before 8. Huzzah.

Between other stuff, did some Love Monkeying. I traced the cookie-based authentication to a function called authenticate(). Well well, I guess that makes me a programmer. I started rewriting the function to store the details of the user's session in a database on the server, thus bypassing the problematic cookies.

Kendra, professing to be bored out of her gourd, followed me home and accompanied me as I did a load of laundry. It's the first load I've done since Cleveland, and only because I finally ran out of underwear. To wit, I wore a pair of mesh shorts in that capacity today, and it bothered me all day. I need support.

Waiting for the load to wash and dry, we swung on the swings and introduced ourselves to each other in some depth. She's not much like me — she's a self-professed “people person” — but I somehow decided not to tell her to go away. I know the process of cleaning my laundry was made more interesting by her presence, and she assures me that her evening was made more interesting by mine. Can't argue with that.

Hank called from Pittsburgh. He's headed to Cincinnati Sunday for the remainder of the summer. He's looking forward to the move, and I'm looking forward to hearing how things go for him there. Thanks to G-Nate for the clutch phone cards.
