Anja called at 9:30 to tell me when her flight would arrive. This left me just enough time to shower, catch the Green Line to Government Center, catch a bus to Maverick on the Blue Line, catch a Blue Line train to Airport, catch a shuttle bus to the terminal, and be late. But her flight arrived even later. We caught a shuttle to Airport, a train to Maverick, a bus to Government Center, and a train back home. Now it was 2PM.

I called Peter's dad (also visiting this weekend) on his cellular phone. He and Peter were at the Museum of Science. Anja, James, and I took a train to Science Park and met them there, just in time for a demonstration of the world's largest Van de Graaff generator. Some parts of the demo failed due to humidity in the air. We then doodled briefly with the musical computers before the museum closed, and went to see “Michael Jordan to the MAX” in the attached IMAX theater. Unfortunately for our necks, we sat in a fairly low row. The distortion was quite significant, and it was hard to look at the screen for any length of time. As Rossini said of Wagner, the movie had some terrific moments, but some terrible quarter-hours.

We watched a guy named Jim do his Show in front of Faneuil Hall. When not reciting jokes from his patter, he was actually pretty funny. I scored some fried scallops (wow!) and clam chowder (yum) and a pint of Steve's Maine Brown Bear ice cream. Back when I was a squirt and my family visited Rami and Aya in Newton, we used to get ice cream from the local Steve's. That one no longer exists, but now I know there's one in Faneuil Hall.

Its organized rows of cobblestone and shops constitute the American interpretation of the European city. Well suited to foot traffic, plenty of people are always walking about; but the three parallel markets and interstitial footpaths speak of their host country. It's a nice place to hang out — nothing at all like Cleveland.

Back to the house, where I reached my new Crazy Taxi high score: $5960. Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil was on TV. I enjoy that movie more every time.
