The DSL man cometh. I stayeth home to greet and escort him. While waiting, I smashed both my own personal record and the all-time high score on Luis's Crazy Taxi cartridge: $15,283! All with “arcade” settings. Damn, now I want to go play it in the arcade and see if this holds up.
Beautiful day, high of 80 degrees.
The DSL man came at 2 and did us up. However, Bell Atlantic hadn't tested the line properly. DSL man filed a trouble ticket and explained that it would take another 2-3 days for Bell Atlantic to come and fix, after which he'd come back and try again. Dag, I was all hepped up too.
Rode to Copley, walked to Stoner's in Back Bay for a ride to Waltham for game against a West division team, the “Mighty Mighty Dust Mites”. They came out hard and were leading 7-1, but we roared back to make it 8-5 at the half, and were tied at 10 when they pulled away. Final score: 15-11. A great game, but our first loss. We are now called “Doogie”, in minimal keeping with the required but sucky theme of “The Year 2000 Bug”: Neil Patrick Harris, who played the title character in Doogie Howser, M.D., also played a role in Starship Troopers, which is about killing large bugs. A connection this tenuous could only be made by the mind of Amitai.
After the game, several of us hit the Watch City Brewery. Captain Davie drove us there and home. He's a funny guy, but Scottish, and a bit hard to understand from the back seat.
