Me In Boston: Oct. 19-22 (two days from now!)
I've secured sleeping facilities with aunt and uncle in Newton, except for Friday night. Asking cousin (also in Newton) about Friday night. Happy that we have somewhere nice to stay, but it's pretty far from downtown, so I'm still hoping to find space with buddies who live closer to the Hub. May have found what I'm looking for with a friend at Harvard, assuming all of us can fit in her room, although it might prove logistically difficult with the crazy rowing going on.
Seth: Sunday is looking like our least-scheduled day. Also, there's going to be a dinner some evening with NetBSD people, probably Saturday (but I'm not sure yet), and you're welcome to come along if you find the prospect at all intriguing.
Emily: I used to think people who said “everything is for the best” were being dumb: of course some outcomes are better than others! But I changed my mind sometime in the last several years, because I started to think about things similarly to how you think about your experience with Dylan (at least, as you relate it in your plan). However, I think “everything is for the best” is true only under certain circumstances — specifically, only for people who are smart enough to learn from everything that happens to them. I hope this doesn't sound weird, since I don't know you that well, but I'm really interested to meet this Michael character someday. Knowing cool people is one of my fundamental life goals.
