Be vewwy vewwy quiet — I'm hunting employewws!
My current job is a 2-month contract, and none too lucrative, so I'm looking around for what to do next, with the constraint that I don't want anything particularly ambitious because I'm probably going to quit when I go to school next fall. One really convenient possibility would be to work at the local university: it's a short bus ride from my apartment, pays well enough, and would let me take a couple courses for free. I've applied for a few positions (some sysadmin, some programming) and am hopeful that I'll get an offer for at least one of them.
I'm not limiting the search to CWRU, though. A friend who is in a BS/MS program was considering leaving with just his BS, but decided to stick around and finish, and did something very nice for me: when one of the places he was going to interview with called him, he told them “I'm no longer interested, but you should talk to my friend Amitai”. And it sounds like a job I could really enjoy: C programmer. (I'm decent with C, but far from the expert I'd like to be, and doing it as my job would rule.)
Still researching which schools I should apply to, and what each school defines as a transfer applicant. I need to have gotten all the applications I'm going to write into my hands within a couple weeks or so. And I need to find out whether I need to retake any standardized tests (preferably not, of course).
My life is even more fun than usual right now, because I'm actively figuring out both short-term and long-term plans, and I'm looking forward to all the good options that will soon present themselves.
