James: Gotcha. Charles Hannum has fixed a bunch of USB (1.1 and 2.0) bugs in NetBSD-current, and the fixes will be pulled up to the release branch before 2.0 is cut. So you should definitely try with a -current kernel. Actually, you should be able to cross-build one from FreeBSD. Just check out “src” from anoncvs.netbsd.org and use ”./build.sh … tools”, then ”./build.sh … kernel”. Or you could grab a build from here, if and when the i386 directory gets populated.

Also, I do have a connection to the Case medical school. My sister graduated from there last year.
