I feel the same about state and local issues as I do about national ones. There are laws being voted on that don't deserve to come so close to being real. For instance, Ohio Issue 1 would never have gotten this far in a society that paid more than lip service to freedom. But clearly we don't — it passed — and it wouldn't have comforted me at all to see it voted down, because it ought to have died long before that point. That it didn't speaks volumes.

Voting one way or another on these derivative issues isn't going to change the world to my liking. Persuading people that they should value freedom will.

One of the reasons I haven't yet voted is that I haven't yet felt comfortable doing it. Another reason is that it seems to induce people to ask what the hell I think I'm doing. Which, since it supports my goals, I'm all too happy to explain!
