Road Trip Travelogue Status: not yet

Russ is having a four-day bacchanal at his neato apartment in Ohio City. Started off with kegs 'n' eggs (and potatoes, and corned beef, and tons of delicious bacon) Thursday morning. I learned how to play poker that night, and did fairly well. We retired to The Old Angle and got into an animated conversation on two topics dear to Kim: why do we force sports-factory university athletes to try to be scholars as well, and what the hell was Larry Summers thinking when he said that offhanded thing he said? She contended that we shouldn't and those schools should offer a major in Professional Sports, and that he was wrong to say what he said. For fun, I took contrary positions: the kids for whom professional sports represents “a way out” are the kids for whom a university education creates the most opportunity; and Summers was lamenting the paucity of women in certain fields, looking for a solution, and suggesting an area worthy of further research.

More March Madness and poker ensued last night. I stayed away from the poker since there was actual money being won and lost, instead opting for euchre with Jason, Kyl, and Eric (in from L.A.). Last time I played euchre… oh, brain, there you go again with your silly associations!

More Madness, Chez Russ, today and tomorrow.
