What does this mean for you? Rejoice, for NetBSD is pretty sweet, and new things are shiny. If you download an ISO via BitTorrent, some of your bits might come from my laptop.
What does this mean for me? I'll certainly upgrade my development box (running 3.0_BETA). In fact, I might upgrade to NetBSD/xen instead of NetBSD/i386, just for fun. For my server (running 2.0.2) I don't have a pressing need to upgrade, but since it's winter break and I have wondrous glorious free time, I'll look into it anyway. UFS_DIRHASH could improve performance with my oversized maildirs, and PAM could improve the way virtual mail users authenticate.
