My head hurt when I woke up. I took some ibuprofen and went back to sleep. I didn't get to work early, but I did get to work without a headache. Seemed like a good trade.

The Ethernet hub we bought was supposed to support either 10- or 100-Mbps devices, but only supports 100. My G3 only supports 10. Thus, no network for me this morning. We shuffled some things around to get me hooked up again, and I started knocking some items off my to-do list that had been piling up since Thursday.

New intern Kendra's first day. She lovingly runs the Smith Jolt and will surely find herself occupied with plenty of other tasks too. To commemorate her first day, we went to Souper Salad (disclosure: Chris owns some Souper Salad stock) and actually ate there. Pedro revealed that he also played football in high school. Kendra found the two of us amusing — something about our banter reminds her of standup comedy. Well, I found it amusing that she was a Smith student and not simultaneously a psycho hose beast. Smithies have something of a reputation, especially among students of nearby schools, of whom I happen to know several.

I left work at 5 to meet Pete at Harvard Square and continue up the Red Line to Alewife for my first summer league game. Interestingly, Danehy Park was just past the movie theater in the Fresh Pond Mall where Mike and Amit and I had watched a movie in January. It turned out that Pete had been removed from the waiting list and assigned to my team (19). Sweet! One of our captains is Irish, the other Scottish. Fly. We had decent flow on offense by the end of the game, which we won 15-5. The other team had a guy who shouted “Relax!” all the time to his teammates. The consensus of our team was that he was actually trying to persuade himself to do so.

Some of our team, and “Relax”, went to Bertucci's afterward. The waitress brought a pitcher of raspberry iced tea for Peter and me, went to fetch glasses, and returned to find most of the tea gone. In our thirst and impatience, we had drained it directly from the pitcher. She graciously returned a second time, bringing straws. I don't recall eating very much pizza. I primarily drank tea.
