Emily: Way to be with the trivia! Have you noticed that many people react badly to people who are good at it? Ever since I was a kid, when I've played Trivial Pursuit or games of that ilk, I'm almost always accused of having read and studied all the cards in advance. Have you encountered that too?

In related news, some friends and I are traveling to Kaukauna, WI next weekend for the 37th annual Midwest Trivia Contest. The team we're on has been competing in this contest for 20 years; their name changes every year, but always follows the pattern “Lucky Guess _____ At The Library”, because we have a deal with the Kaukauna Public Library wherein they close to the public for the entire weekend and we camp out in there the whole time. I've played with Lucky Guess once before, two years ago (a few months before I left Cleveland for Boston to work at the Jolt). There's an amazing amount of teamwork and strategy involved in working the phone lines, not to mention the challenge of staying awake for 50 hours and answering trivia questions something like every 8 minutes, not to mention the insanely difficult questions late on Sunday night. It's a life-altering experience. The good kind.
